The Vaghireh are models that weavers traditionally used for reproducing carpets patterns.
These carpets were handed down from generation to generation to preserve the traditional family design. Vaghireh played a key role in the evolution of weaving.
But it would be wrong to consider the Vaghireh just as a model that has to be passively copied.
In fact, these carpets are a proper source of inspiration for the weaver. Every time weavers copied a vaghireh they introduce some variations in the colours scheme and in the position of patterns, giving birth to a new piece of art. They were essential tools for creating a harmonious decoration.
The exhibit displays part of Taher Sabahi Collection of Vaghireh. A series of significant samples gathered with a diligent search throughout the years.
